Who Gets What

Who gets what?

·

The whole price. Drag the lines between the slices to say who gets what.

Drag the lines. Let go when it looks right.

How to play

  1. At the top is something real and what it costs, in one country, in one year.
  2. The bar underneath is that whole price. It is split between the people and the steps that are paid out of it: an icon and one word for each.
  3. Drag the lines between the slices until the money looks right to you, then tap Show the split.
  4. The real split slides in under yours, and you see how much of the price you put in the wrong place.

One price a day, the same for everyone. A new one arrives at midnight.

Where the splits come from

Each one is published by a body that measures it — a government agency, a regulator, a United Nations agency, a research institute or an industry body — and was read against a second source on another website. Both are linked under the answer, and the year is always on the price, because these figures move.

What a slice really covers

A slice is often a whole step of the chain rather than one person's pocket: "Shop" can mean the shop's rent and staff as well as its profit. Where that matters, a line under the answer says so.
